What We Collect
The essentials
- •Email address - so you can log in and we can reach you for important stuff
- •Hashed IP address - SHA-256 hashed for security (stopping abuse). We genuinely can't see your real IP.
- •Browser info - just the type, for security logs
- •Your content - posts, personas, settings you create
- •Encrypted Messages - stored as unreadable gibberish (ciphertext) on our servers until delivery. After that, It'll be kept on your device until you delete it.
What we don't collect
- •Your location
- •Your browsing history
- •Behavioral patterns
- •Anything for ads
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used for
- •Logging you in
- •Keeping the platform safe
- •Showing you your own content
- •Sending important account alerts (never marketing spam)
Your data is never used for
- •Advertising
- •Selling to anyone
- •Building profiles to manipulate you
Multi-Identity Privacy
Hori-Z lets you have multiple personas. Here's our promise:
- •Public personas can be found by their handle
- •Pseudonymous personas stay internal to the platform
- •Private personas (Coming Soon) will be visible only to you and approved followers
- •We never reveal connections between your different identities

Your Rights
You're in control of your data:
- •See everything we have about you
- •Download your data
- •Fix anything that's wrong
- •Delete your posts/comments
- •Recover your deleted posts/comments directly from settings in 3 days of deletion
- •Request full account deletion via support email
Data Security
We take security seriously:
- •Everything encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
- •Passwords hashed properly (bcrypt)
- •IPs hashed (SHA-256)
- •Chat messages End-to-End Encrypted (Zero-Knowledge - we can't read them)
- •Sessions expire automatically
- •Rate limiting to prevent abuse
- •Security logs for monitoring
- •Two-factor auth support
Data Retention
- •Active accounts - we keep your data while you're using Hori-Z
- •Deleted posts/comments - removed from public view immediately, held for 3 days for recovery in settings, then strictly deleted automatically
- •Deleted accounts - 30-day waiting period, then permanently deleted by automated cron jobs
- •Account deactivation/deletion requests currently go through support due to a UI verification issue, but strict retention compliance is always maintained
- •Security logs - kept for safety reasons
Third Parties
We use minimal external services:
- •Neon (PostgreSQL) - Encrypted Cloud Database for your profile data
- •Cloudinary - Secure storage for your images and media
- •Vercel - Frontend Hosting infrastructure
- •Oracle Cloud VMs - Backend Hosting infrastructure and redis cache
- •Google/Microsoft - Email Verification only
- •MailGun - Email Delivery for verification codes and alerts
We don't share your data with advertisers, analytics companies, or data brokers. Full stop.
Cookies
We use cookies for:
- •Keeping you logged in
- •Security protection
- •Remembering your active persona
No tracking cookies. No third-party analytics.
Children's Privacy
During our beta phase, Hori-Z is strictly for people 18 and older. We are actively building dedicated child-protection features to eventually support users aged 13-17 safely. We don't knowingly collect data from minors.
